Note: Tangs can be cut to match the type of grip you are using.
The Short Tang is commonly used for smaller grips, such as the Visconti.
The Medium Tang is used for slightly larger grips, such as the Belgian.
The Long Tang is used for the longer grips, such as the French.
Blades usually come with the Long Tang, if you use a French-type grip, or would like to cut your own to match your own grips.

very inexpensive to build your own practice blade

with the already dummy tip you just need, pommel, grip, guard, and optional pad to complete a french grip weapon. bare hands definetly get a pad. Ergo grip, pistol grips, might need to measure and trim, got no comment there.
